Dr. Dan Leingang, interim president of Bismarck State College, shared an update on BSC’s Bavendick Center as a Bismarck Parks and Recreation District featured partner. The new athletic facility is located near BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center and MDU Resources Community Bowl.
BPRD Recreation Specialist Spencer Aune updated the Board on plans for the annual Flurry Fest in February. The month-long winter festival provides a diverse mix of free and low-cost events and programs for residents and visitors to get out and be active.
City of Bismarck Engineer Gabe Schell provided an update on the South Bismarck Flood Control Project. This project no longer impacts Clem Kelley Athletic Complex as the alternative moving forward will expand the size of the south Bismarck drainage ditch. Maintenance of trails along the route will be addressed through the project.
The Board approved the bid from Spiffy Biffs for portable toilets from February 2026 through December 2027.
The Board rejected previously approved bids for a fairway mower and bunker rank from Van Wall Equipment due to not meeting specifications. The Board approved the bids for a fairway mower from MTI and for a bunker rake from Turfwerks.
The Board approved designated depositories for park district funds, authorized selection of a consultant for the Sunrise Trail Connection Project, and authorized a call for bids for VFW Sports Center and Tom O’Leary Golf Course concessions. The Board approved consultant agreements and authorized calls for bids for the Municipal Country Club restroom renovation with Endeavor North Design PLLC, McDowell Dam Recreation Area shower building with Bartlett and West, and Paul H. Wachter Aquatic Complex pool mechanical updates with Prairie Engineering PC.
