President Jeske recognized the induction of retired Bismarck Parks and Recreation District Executive Director Kevin Klipfel into the North Dakota Recreation & Park Association Hall of Fame on September 16.
Kathy Feist, BPRD finance director, reviewed the proposed 2027 Operating Budget. The Board held its public hearing on the budget with no comments offered. The Board approved the second reading of the budget resolution and mill levy not to exceed the 3 percent cap and adopted the 2027 Operating Budget.
Jackie Peeler, executive director, shared an update on Dakota Zoo as a BPRD featured partner.
The Board received a presentation on the City Hall Renovation Project from City Administrator Jason Tomanek and Cole Johnson with Endeavor North Design. Tomanek invited BPRD to have a representative involved in the design of the new Commission/Board chamber.
The Board accepted the base bid and alternate 1 bid from Edling Electric for the BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center Timing System Replacement in the amount of $171,780.
The Board approved the resolution providing for the sale of General Obligation Park Facilities Bonds, Series 2026, of up to $6 million for parking lot improvements.
The Board approved the real estate purchase agreement for Hay Creek Addition Lot 3. The Board approved the list of professional consultants for 2027 and 2028. The Board authorized extension of its agreement with Bismarck Baseball Concessions for Scheels Complex concessions through 2028 and amended its agreement with Bismarck Gymnastics Academy for required dates to submit participant numbers.
