Bismarck Parks and Recreation District owns and manages more than 85 miles of trails throughout the City of Bismarck and Burleigh County. A few indoor options are also available for walking.

Biking

BPRD offers a bike share program called BisParks BCycle. Bike rentals are available from May to October, weather permitting.

Atkinson Nature Park Trail

Bill Mills Nature Trail, Sertoma Park

  • 0.8-mile unpaved hiking and hiking trail with interpretive panels with Missouri River views at the north end of the park
  • Connects to paved shared use trail

General Sibley Park & Campground Trail

Hay Creek Trail

  • 5.0-mile paved shared use trail following the Hay Creek Greenway from northeast Bismarck south to the Missouri Valley Complex
  • Winds through native creek area enhanced by environmental practices that preserve native stream bed and provide stormwater management with opportunities for wildlife viewing
  • Connects Johnny Gisi Memorial Park, Pebble Creek Golf Course, Hay Creek Park, and Sleepy Hollow Park
  • Earned a National Recreation Trail designation in 2002

Missouri Valley Millennium Legacy Trail (Riverfront Trail)

  • Paved shared use trail following the river from Chief Looking’s Village in north Bismarck through Pioneer Park and Steamboat Park to Sertoma Park in south Bismarck
  • Connects historical, recreational, and cultural sites along the Missouri River, crossing the river into Mandan along Memorial Bridge or Expressway Bridge and traveling all the way to Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park
  • Named one of 52 national Millennium Legacy Trails in 2001

Zonta Park Play Trail

  • Paved shared use trail with interpretive signs highlighting prairie restoration happening onsite and sharing information about pollinators
