Bismarck Parks and Recreation District celebrated the expanded and renovated VFW Sports Center with its partners, campaign supporters and the community at the February 28, 2024, ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house. BPRD thanks everyone who worked to bring the vision of an expanded community facility to life.

The expanded VFW Sports Center features the renovated Rink 2, now H.A. Thompson & Sons Arena, and a new third sheet of ice, called First International Bank & Trust Arena. Other facility enhancements include a new second lobby and concession area; additional larger locker rooms for entire facility; new multipurpose space for training, meetings and parties; new rooms for sports medicine and officials; additional restrooms; new office and storage space; and more parking.
