Bismarck Board of Park Commissioners Brief for April 18, 2024


Roger Weigel, Bismarck Men’s Slowpitch Softball Association, shared information about his organization as a Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD) featured partner. For the 2024 season, there are approximately 100 men’s softball teams playing a 14-week season at Cottonwood Park and Clem Kelley Athletic Complex. Bismarck is hosting 11 softball tournaments this year.

Samantha Lachenmaier, Women’s Slowpitch Softball Association, also shared information as a BPRD partner. More than 35 women’s softball teams will play during the 12-week season at Sam McQuade Sr. Softball Complex and Cottonwood Park. Bismarck is hosting the USA Softball Women’s Class E/Rec Northern Slow Pitch National Championship Aug. 24-25.

The Board approved the transfer of the Municipal Country Club agreement with Lady J’s Catering to new owners Dauntae Martin, Preston Martin and Casey Martin and approved the agreement addendum.

The Board approved the 2025-2027 Strategic Plan.

The Board authorized staff to call for bids for BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center concessions, replacement of the rooftop air handler at BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center, and USGA sand for bunkers and greens maintenance at Riverwood Golf Course. The Board also approved the updated Bismarck Aquatics and Fitness Inc. use agreement.

The next regularly scheduled Board meeting is Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 5:15 p.m. in the Tom Baker Meeting Room.
