Bismarck Board of Park Commissioners Brief for March 21, 2024


Doug Wiles, Bismarck Forestry Department, shared information about its 49-year partnership with Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD). Forestry Department staff spend about 20 percent of their time each year working in parks, mainly working on tree planting and removals. The 2024 focus is preparing for the anticipated arrival of emerald ash borer, a destructive pest of ash trees.

The Board awarded the bid for the Riverside Park Road water line project to Basaraba Excavating in the amount of $182,113.59 and approved accepting the grant funding if awarded.

The Board awarded the bid for the pool deck replacement project at the BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center to Paramount Builders in the amount of $211,433.

The Board awarded the bid for the Bismarck Municipal Ballpark project for artificial turf, batter’s eye and ticket booth to Northwest Contracting in the amount of $2,241,272.

BPRD Finance Director Kathy Feist presented the 2025 budget development schedule.

The Board authorized staff to call for bids for lighting replacement at the Nishu Bowmen Archery Complex and Joann Hetzel Memorial 4-H Building; approved the Bismarck Community Bowl agreement; received updates on the local foods coordinator position; approved the ADA Transition Plan; approved the ADA Access and Inclusion Solutions Process; and approved disposition of obsolete equipment.
