Brad Veith, president of Nishu Bowmen, shared an update as a Bismarck Parks and Recreation District featured partner. The organization has 453 memberships with almost 700 individuals involved. Nishu Bowmen has a strong focus on opportunities for youth. They host 5-6 tournaments annually and provide space at the Nishu Bowmen Archery Ranges facility for other organizations to host tournaments.
The Board approved the bid from Dakota West Contracting in the amount of $45,050 for the administrative office lobby renovation.
The Board approved the bids for 2026 maintenance equipment and fertilizer.
The Board approved year-end transfers for equipment that will be purchased and projects that will be completed in 2026.
The Board approved the termination of the joint powers agreement with Burleigh County for the riverfront mill levy per Burleigh County action. The Board approved calls for bids for 2026 projects: vault toilet and storage shed at Sertoma Park and Tom O’Leary Tennis Court resurfacing and replacement. The Board approved the donation of official Park Board minute books to the State Historical Society of North Dakota. The Board approved consultant selection and calls for bids for 2026 projects: AE2S for Park Shop concrete, EAPC for Municipal Ballpark safety netting, Apex Engineering Group for BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center timing system, UBL Design Group for Capital Ice Complex’s Schaumberg Arena bleachers and refrigeration system, Prairie Engineering for VFW Sports Center boilers, and Apex Engineering Group for Tom O’Leary Golf Course cart paths phase 2. The Board approved a consultant agreement with KLJ Engineering and call for bids for parking lot projects, pending approval of a Bank of North Dakota loan.
The Board approved management of the Missouri Valley Complex Community Gardens for 2026 as requested by Burleigh County and authorized staff to develop an agreement.
The Board acknowledged the retirement notice from Executive Director Kevin Klipfel effective June 1, 2026.
The Board will hold a special meeting Monday, December 22, 2025, at 5:15pm to discuss the executive director search process.
