Grab a sack lunch or supper and head to McDowell Dam Recreation Area, just four miles east and one mile north on Highway 10.

Spend the day exploring the water, enjoying the outdoors, and making memories with family and friends. Whether you’re paddling across the lake, relaxing along the shoreline, or simply taking in the scenery, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Bring your sense of adventure, try something new, and discover why McDowell Dam is one of Bismarck’s favorite summer destinations. Best of all, it’s a fun way to celebrate National Park and Recreation Month and enjoy a day outside together!

Need to Know

There will be free use of:

  • paddleboats
  • paddle boards
  • canoes
  • kayaks (accessible kayak launch)

Concession stand will be open if you would prefer to purchase snacks or drinks rather than bring your own.
