FLAG FOOTBALL COORDINATOR JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB INFORMATION

  • Classification: Part-time hourly
  • Pay Range: Pay is determined on an annual basis by the Board of Park Commissioners
  • Supervisor: Works under the general and detailed supervision of the Recreation Specialists in charge of the program.

JOB SUMMARY

Flag Football Coordinator will supervise coaches and organize practices and games during the fall flag football season.  Flag Football is Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from late August through early October.  Evening hours.

JOB DUTIES AND TASKS

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work to be performed by the individual within this classification. Essential Functions

  • Arrive at the complex 30 minutes prior to the start time.
  • Inspect the playing fields and equipment to identify and address any problems or potential hazards.
  • Learn and implement information and rules in Flag Football Manager’s Handbook
  • Be visible and available to coaches and participants. Must be able to answer questions and provide first aid and administrative assistance.
  • Move from field to field observing play. Approach and correct problems in a positive manner with players, fans and officials.
  • Assist with the distribution of team t-shirts, schedules and picture order forms.
  • Make sure all players on your team are picked up or supervised by another coach before you leave.
  • Discuss any problem areas or concerns with coaches and inform the Recreation Specialist.
  • Lock all supplies and equipment in the shack at the end of each night. Any keys issued must be turned in at the end of the season.
  • Follow all BPRD safety policies and procedures outlined in the Risk Management Handbook.
  • Complete all necessary payroll forms and utilize the electronic time and attendance timekeeping system.
  • Understand and follow the standard operating procedures outlined in the employee manual.
  • Understand and follow the Human Resource Policy and Procedure Handbook items related to this position.

Other Duties and Tasks

  • Inform supervisor prior to running out of supplies.
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with facility staff, groups, associations, agencies and individuals.
  • Arrive at scheduled time and be ready to work. Absences must have prior approval by the supervisor.
  • Responsible for personal neatness, attire, and communicating repair needs and job site neatness.
  • Perform a variety of tasks that range from skilled to unskilled work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Age 18 or older.
  • Must maintain a fitness level acceptable to perform the skills required of the position.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the game of flag football.
  • Requires extensive contact with elementary age children and parents.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 30 pounds alone or heavier with other employees.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is primarily outdoors at flag football location which is the Sam McQuade Sr. softball fields.
  • Must be able to stand for 3-5 hours at a time.
  • Public contact is frequent.
