WATERSLIDE MONITOR JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB INFORMATION

  • Classification: Part-Time Hourly I
  • Pay Range: Pay is determined on an annual basis by the Board of Park Commissioners
  • Supervisor: Works under the general and detailed supervision of the Facility Specialist(s) and the outdoor pool managers.

JOB SUMMARY

The waterslide monitor provides safe recreational opportunities while enforcing regulations at Hillside Aquatic Center.

JOB DUTIES AND TASKS

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work to be performed by the individual within this classification. They are not to be considered an exhaustive or all-inclusive listing of the position’s duties and tasks, as they may change or be adjusted, as situations require.

Essential Functions

  • Attend all required in-service training and emergency procedure sessions, complete all training session requirements, and attend all meetings scheduled by pool management staff.
  • Employee is to take direction from pool managers/Facility Specialist(s) or person responsible for successful completion of task.
  • Responsible for ensuring patrons are using the waterslide properly and following BPRD guidelines for waterslide usage.
  • Notify lifeguards and pool managers immediately of any emergency situation.
  • Assist with facility clean-up throughout the shift.
  • Aid and assist individuals and groups utilizing the facilities and programs within the policies, procedures, and guidelines set by BPRD.
  • Responsible for maintaining the condition and appearance of the facility and equipment on the pool deck area and the other areas of the facility.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds alone or heavier lifting with assistance.
  • Arrive at scheduled time and be ready to work. Absences must have prior approval by the pool managers.
  • Follow all BPRD safety policies and procedures outlined in the Risk Management Handbook.
  • Complete all necessary payroll forms and utilize the electronic time and attendance timekeeping system.
  • Understand and follow the standard operating procedures outlined in the employee manual.
  • Understand and follow the Human Resource Policy and Procedure Handbook items related to this position.
  • Represent BPRD in a professional and positive manner. BPRD issues clothing and equipment to employees and the issued items are to be used in an appropriate manner, not inconsistent with the image BPRD wishes to convey to the public.

Other Duties and Tasks

  • Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with facility staff, groups, associations, agencies and individuals.
  • Inform pool managers prior to running out of supplies.
  • Responsible for personal neatness and attire; communicating repair needs and job site neatness.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Ability to establish good public relations and work well with the public.
  • Must be able to physically perform duties required for the position, including the ability to stand for 2-4 hours at a time, lift 30 pounds or heavier lifting with assistance, and ability to climb stairs.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and enforce rules and regulations set by the Bismarck Parks and Recreation District with firmness and tactfulness.
  • Must have a flexible schedule as the position will be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to identify potential and current dangerous situations and follow emergency action protocol.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is primarily outdoors and subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Public contact is frequent.
  • Must be able to stand for 2-4 hours at one time.
