Bismarck Board of Park Commissioners Brief for Feb. 15, 2024


Brenda Nagel, Bismarck-Mandan Chamber EDC, shared information about her organization as a Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD) featured partner. She expressed the importance of parks and recreation as an essential asset to bring people to the community and meet workforce needs.

The Board appointed Executive Director Kevin Klipfel and Commissioner Julie Jeske to the newly formed Missouri Valley Complex Committee.

Jeff Ubl, Ubl Design Group, and Darin Will, Northwest Contracting, provided an update on the VFW Sports Center project. A ribbon cutting ceremony and open house is scheduled for Feb. 28 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The Board awarded the Scheels Sports Complex concession bid to Bismarck Baseball Concessions LLC and approved the three-year agreement.

The Board approved disposal of obsolete records per approved policy.

The Board authorized staff to call for bids for the Municipal Country Club concessions, to apply for two ND Department of Agriculture grants to assist with weed control, and to apply for a Reeves Foundation Expanded Impact group for accessibility improvements.

The next regularly scheduled Board meeting is Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 5:15 p.m. in the Tom Baker Meeting Room.
