Ethan Eberle, BPRD recreation specialist, shared information about the upcoming Babe Ruth 13-15 Year Old Midwest Plains Regional Tournament, which will be held July 28-Aug. 1.  Ten teams are scheduled to play during the five-day tournament, including two from North Dakota.

The Board awarded the bid for cart path improvements at Pebble Creek Golf Course to American Resurfacing, Inc., for $168,899.

Brad Krogstad with KLJ provided an update on 2021 capital projects.

  • Improvements to parking lots throughout Sertoma Park are estimated to be completed in early September.
  • Improvements to shared use trails are estimated to be completed as follows: Sleepy Hollow Park at the end of July, Gateway Pond at the end of August, and Capital Outfall/Hay Creek in early August.
  • Replacement of the parking lot at Igoe Park is estimated to be completed by the end of August.

The 2022 operating budget was introduced as a balanced budget with no increase in mills.  The Board moved to approve the 2022 operating budget as presented, to approve the 2022 budget resolution, and to approve the preliminary budget statement for 2022 and set the public hearing for Sept. 16 at 5:15 p.m. in the Tom Baker Room in the City/County Building.

The Board approved a ground lease for the Joann Hetzel Memorial 4-H Building with Burleigh County and a commercial lease with NDSU Burleigh County Extension Service.

The next Board meeting is Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, at 5:15 p.m. in the Tom Baker Meeting Room.
