May: National Water Safety Month – Lifeguards Needed

With summer just around the corner, it’s important to recognize National Water Safety Month in May. Whether your enjoying the Missouri River, an area lake or a local swimming pool, remember to be safe on the water. Learn more about water safety from the American Red Cross.

Be a Hero: Become a Lifeguard

Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD) is gearing up for a great summer at our indoor and outdoor pools, but ensuring a safe and fun summer requires a lot of lifeguards.

Unfortunately, BPRD started experiencing the national lifeguard shortage last year, and we need more heroes to join our team to open our outdoor pools and keep operating our indoor pools.

We have plenty of classes available for anyone age 15+ interested in becoming a lifeguard. As an added bonus, newly trained lifeguards that join our team are eligible for reimbursement of the class fee of $250.

Training Available – Register Today!

Lifeguarding classes are offered at BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center as follows:

  • May 18-21
  • May 30-June 1
