Dakota Community Bank and Trust Makes Lead Gift to Softball Complex

In their continued commitment to the community and to their customers, Dakota Community Bank and Trust has announced their lead gift in a capital campaign to bring a youth fast pitch softball complex to Cottonwood Park.

Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD) is working with all of the community’s softball groups – the men’s, women’s and girls’ fastpitch associations – in a capital campaign to bring more recreational opportunities to Bismarck.

Bismarck’s men’s and women’s slowpitch softball association have the largest number of participants in the state. The fastpitch program is growing and does not have a dedication complex.  As a result, the plans for Cottonwood Park in Bismarck are:

  • Four girls fastpitch softball fields,
  • Four adult softball fields
  • Concessions/restroom building
  • Covered dugouts
  • Pressbox/grandstand
  • Expanded parking, playgrounds, picnic shelter and trail connections

Bismarck Women’s Slowpitch Softball Association, the Bismarck Men’s Slowpitch Softball Association and the Bismarck Youth Fastpitch Softball Association wholeheartedly support this project. They appreciate the value that the fields will bring to the community in terms of strengthened programming and opportunities for additional participation for both adult and youth softball. All three groups presented their need for additional fields to the BPRD Board of Park Commissioners, and committed a total of $700,000 to kick-start the campaign to raise $1,350,000 for the project.

A campaign committee of volunteers has been formed and has a goal to raise an additional $650,000 so that this project becomes a community reality. Dakota Community Bank and Trust leads the group of other community minded businesses who have pledged their support to the fastpitch complex, and are joined by Puklich Chevrolet, Scheels, BDS Concrete, Chuppe Clinic-Chiropractic & Physical Therapy, NoDak Sportsmen’s Club, Midway Lanes, Fetzer Electric LLC, KLJ, Bain Agency, Fireside Office Solutions and several individual gifts.

Dale Pahlke, President of Dakota Community Bank & Trust said, “When it comes to kids, our community never stops. We invite you to join Dakota Community Bank And Trust along with Bismarck Parks and Recreation District for an exciting campaign to add new fastpitch softball fields in Bismarck.”

Cottonwood Park originated with a purchase of 89 acres of land in 1990. Today, the park consists of 225 acres of land with multiple recreational uses and community partners. When this current project is finished, there will be a total of 20 softball fields in Cottonwood Park.
