Bismarck Board of Park Commissioners Brief for Jan. 18, 2024

Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD) Recreation Specialist Spencer Aune updated the Board on plans for the annual Flurry Fest in February. The month-long celebration of winter provides a diverse mix of free and low-cost events and programs for residents and visitors.

Condrey and Associates presented the results of a classification and compensation study conducted for BPRD. The Board accepted the report and directed staff to consider the information during the 2025 budget process.

Darin Will, Northwest Contracting, provided an update on the VFW Sports Center project, which is expected to be complete by the end of February.

The Board awarded two fertilizer bids as adjusted from the December 2023 Board meeting. The Board also rejected a bid for a greens roller previously approved due to the vendor’s withdrawal and awarded it to another company.

The Board approved nine financial institutions as designated depositories for BPRD funds.

The Board authorized staff to submit a payment card interchange settlement claim form, authorized application for a State Energy Program Grant and a Garrison Diversion Conservancy District grant, approved disposal of records per the BPRD retention schedule, and approved an agreement with Dakota Junior Golf Association for tee box sign advertising at the Sheila Schafer Junior Links.

The next regularly scheduled Board meeting is Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, at 5:15 p.m. in the Tom Baker Meeting Room.
